Bloggers' spat: Xiaxue refuses to say sorry

Summary of the article:


The article talks about a dispute between locally known bloggers Wendy Cheng (or better known as Xiaxue) and Dawn Yang. In this article, it has been surfaced that Xiaxue has refused to apologise to Dawn Yang about the defamatory remarks she made on one of her blog posts.


In return for the flaming, Dawn Yang decided to take matters to court by requesting for Xiaxue to make a public apology and pay for damages suffered by Yang through the flaming ordeal.


The feud between the blogger started back in November 2006 (2 years before this incident) where the bloggers were being compared by the readers.

3. There are people know as lurkers that do not comment on any of your post but read them, and they may use these information to track you down.


4. Some information that you post may be misinterpreted by certain people and may lead to unpleasant situations

5. And not forgetting cyber bullying. Certain people might use blogs to insult people or even make hate sites which may harass the person mentally

Cyber Wellness Tips

1. Never reveal your personal information like phone numbers or home address, unless you are absolutely comfortable, to avoid stalkers.

2. Unless your blog is locked for private and invited readers, your blog will be public and can be seen by anybody on the internet including your family and friends. Do not post anything insensitive e.g. racist comments for it might lead to conflict.

3. Think twice before posting images of yourself, for users of the internet may use it for ill purposes.


4. Friends made through blogging may not always be how they seem like online. Unless you know who you are communicating with personally, do not exchange any personal information or arrange for meet-ups.

5. Do not copy information from other websites without crediting or making minor adjustments as you might be violating a copyright law.


What can blogs be used for?

1. People often blog to express their inner feelings and thoughts, they use blogs as an online journal.

2. People also use blogs to document their travel experiences i.e. a travel journal. 

3. Some blogs are used as guides for newbies in areas like sewing, gardening and cooking.

4. Some blogs contain useful information on current affairs.

5. Blogs can be used to sell products for entrepreneurs who conduct their businesses from home.
